my full name is weird — It’s so weird that I can easily create a unique ID on any platform on the first try. Ruby Kallazhi Valappil is my full name. I am a Software Developer by profession and by passion. Writing makes me happy and I feel a certain freedom in expressing my thoughts through writing.
Failed Initiatives — My subscription newsletter did not work as I expected and I had to close it after publishing nearly 60 issues. I also published an e-book, which was a collection of interviews with entrepreneurs who followed their passion. Only 5 copies were sold.
My friends and I came up with a technology product, a notification app for schools and colleges to notify parents of important updates. This was before WhatsApp and other chat software became popular. Our potential clients also showed interest, but the team fell apart as a few got on-site assignments and others were in different locations and getting together to chat became tiresome very quickly.
I love Wild region – Mount Kilimanjaro, Colorado 14ers, Himalayan Mountains, Western Ghats, Mount Washington and many more peaks have been kind to me so far and I wish the journey never ends. Staying in nature without showering for days together is my idea of the perfect vacation.
The love of technology — I am obsessed with the possibilities that technology can open up for us humans. All my experiments and tutorials are frequently published on GitHub. (https://github.com/rubykv)
Coffee is an emotion “I am a self-confessed coffee addict.
fervent believer “In other words, either I strongly believe in something or I don’t care. I am an atheist and a feminist.
I hate shopping (Notice my same attire on 3 different mountains?) – I definitely got this from my dad because the rest of my family members are shopaholics. My husband chooses most of my outfits when he thinks I repeat clothes too often. My mother, my sister and my sister-in-law also do their part and contribute to this cause.
I cry at the cinema “I can’t watch my favorite characters die or suffer. It hurts me and I cry like a baby. It’s embarassing!
Obsessed with books — More than 100 pounds have traveled with me every time I travel from one country to another. I prefer the print edition to the kindle and the only time this order is reversed is when the kindle edition is considerably cheaper than the other.
Money matters a lot — I spent a few years of my life without enough money and now that I’m out of this situation, I never want to go back.
Travel-Gastronomy-Culture “It’s a combo I can hardly resist.
