The clever hack of an Australian landlord’s wheelie bin is causing a stir on social media.

Resident Bianca noticed the trick during a walk in her area.

Posting on a popular Facebook page, she shared an image of the wheelie bin which shows how two 1.25L plastic bottles have been filled with water and secured to the handles with cable ties.

The weight of the bottles keeps the lid closed, keeping birds and vermin out of your bin and trash.

“During my walk today while in lockdown I came across one of the smartest things I’ve seen in a while,” Bianca wrote on the Cleaning and Organization Inspiration Australia The Facebook page.

“The reason for this is to keep the birds out of your bins so they don’t create a mess. I thought this might be helpful for someone who might have this issue.

Facebook users have agreed that this is a common problem many homeowners face, and a recent study revealed how some cockatoos teach themselves to open trash cans.

“It’s guaranteed if the lid of a trash can is cracked even a centimeter cockys will open and flock to the trash can, it’s quite intimidating up close,” said one Facebook user .

“Bin’s day in our city is an arrogant paradise.”

Added another: “It’s a great idea, it avoids the mess!” »

Wrote a third: “Running to my bins to do this, 100%.”

Added one more: “Good idea, then this prevents trash from exploding in the streets and yards.”
