Barclays, Halifax, Lloyds, Nationwide and Monzo customers no longer have accounts

People with accounts at 10 major banks are having trouble with online payments this morning. The problem appears to affect banks such as Barclays, Lloyds, Nationwide, Santander and Monzo.

Thousands of customers are reporting issues through the DownDetector website, which monitors outages online. The banks concerned are Barclays, Bank of Scotland, Halifax, Lloyds, HSBC Santander, Nationwide, NatWest, Monzo and Yorkshire Bank.

Bank customers are reporting issues with money transfers, online banking, and mobile banking apps. Some households were unable to buy food or pay their bills because of the blackout. Bank users started logging issues around 6am today, reports the Mirror.

On Twitter, Santander said: “We are currently experiencing issues making and receiving faster payments. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience and are working hard to resolve the issue.”

A Barclays customer said on social media: “I transferred money to my husband’s Barclays account to pay bills and also paid my credit card bill but none are showing on my account.”

A NatWest customer said: “Are there any issues with the app? I transferred money at 7am to run errands, and it still hasn’t arrived in my account. “
