So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Every week we review a handful of new albums (from all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie” and talk about what metal comes out. We post music news, track premieres and more all day. We are updating a weekly playlist of some of our current favorite tracks. Here is a daily summary with a bunch of interesting and recently released songs in one place.

VIC MENSA & CHANCE THE RAPPER – “WRAITH”

Longtime collaborators Vic Mensa and Chance the Rapper have teamed up again for “Wraith,” part of Chance’s songwriting exercise series, and produced by Smoko Ono and Beat Butcha. It’s more of a traditionalist rap song than Chance is usually known for, and it’s a good reminder that he can still pull this sort of thing off.

TRAAMS – “BREATHE” FT SOFTLIZARD

New album from British band TRAAMS “personal best” comes out in July and they just shared a second song from it. Featuring the vocals of Softlizard (Liza Violet of Menace Beach), “Breathe” glides along a wave of buzzing guitars and sweet motorized beats. The band’s Stu Hopkins calls it “a sweet, meandering lullaby, born out of a trip to the GP – waiting room imagery, mismatched furniture, garish posters and discordant slogans all coming together in a moment of fleeting calm, before expanding into a celebration of the repetition of life.

VIAGRA BOYS – “TROGLODYTE”

Viagra Boys has shared a second single from their upcoming album cave world. “Troglodyte” is a post-punk carver on internet trolls with a killer mix of guitars and synths.

YAYA BEY – “REPEAT”

Brooklyn R&B singer Yaya Bey has shared another track from her long-awaited new album Remember your North Starand it pairs an intimate vocal delivery with a jazzy backdrop you can’t help but nod to.

ARLO MCKINLEY – “DIE FOR”

Alternative country singer Arlo McKinley has announced his new album This mess we’re in with the melancholy “Stealing Dark From The Night Sky,” but if you’re hoping the new album still has pumped-up, driving rockers, you’re in luck. “To Die For” is exactly that, and it’s another very promising taste.

STRAPS – “VIOLETA”

Connecticut art-screamo band Foxtails are working on a new EP, but they’ve released “Violeta” first, which they say is “a bit of a B-side” from this year. Fawn. He finds their climactic, soulful, string-laden sound in refined form.

RACHEL BOBBITT – “MORE”

Toronto singer-songwriter Rachel Bobbitt has signed to Fantasy Records and has shared an evocative new single, “More,” which she says is about “navigating the medical system as a woman whose pain is often ignored. as inevitable”. “It’s because of this body that I have, suffering from migraines inherited from my mother, but it’s also because of the way some people see women as being made to have children, which I don’t don’t even necessarily want to at this point,” she continues.

THE FRIGHTNRS – “YOU, ALWAYS”

Queens reggae/rocksteady band The Frightnrs are gearing up for their new album Stillwhich the band recently finished using vocal stems that lead singer Dan Klein recorded before he tragically passed away from ALS at the age of 33. .

GWENNO – “TREASURE”

Gwenno released the beautiful and dreamy title track from her upcoming third album Treasure. “”Treasure” is a song that questions what makes us human beings and the conscious choice we must have to have a positive or negative impact on our environment and everything around us. We live in a world chaotic and what impacts our ability to make positive decisions are largely circumstantial, the song is about trying to connect with our ability to do the right thing at a time when everything is in flux, in crisis, and where the foundations of our society are changing.and the instinct to engage with the collective in a largely individualistic society?“Treasure” is a tribute to an older analog world, the soundtracks of European cinema and a fair final farewell in the 20th century. Treasure releases July 1 via Heavenly.

MAJOR MURPHY – “ACCESS POINT”

Here is the title track from Major Murphy’s upcoming EP, Access point. It was a song that didn’t make it to the greats of last year To access. Over sparkling synthesizers, triggered vocoder harmonies carry the lovely melody. Beautiful song.

YUMI ZOUMA – “MISSING” (EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE GIRL COVER)

New Zealand band Yumi Zouma stopped by SiriusXM Studios for a session recently and as part of it covered Everything But the Girl’s 90s hit “Missing.” Their version is closer to the original EBTG version than the Todd Terry remix that took the world by storm.

ATTIA TAYLOR – “DOG AND PONY EXHIBITION”

Brooklyn musician Attia Taylor will release her debut album space ghost on July 7 via Lame-O Records. It was produced by Jeff Ziegler (Kurt Vile, War on Drugs), and lead single “Dog and Pony Show” has a hazy, bedroom pop vibe that’s a bit like Julia Holter meets chillwave. Pretty cool stuff.

BOLDY JAMES x REAL BAD MAN – “OPEN DOOR” (ft. ROME STREETZ & STOVE GOD COOKS)

As mentioned, Boldy James and producer Real Bad Man are releasing another collaborative project, the don’t kill anything EP, next week. New single “Open Door” features like-minded rap traditionalists Rome Streetz and Stove God Cooks, and they all sound great on RBM’s lead instrumental.

2 ELEVEN & TF – “BLACKOUT” (ft. CONWAY THE MACHINE)

Last year 2 Eleven came out Brainwhich features Freddie Gibs on six of his eight songs, and this year he and fellow West Coast rapper TF released Levels without skin 2the sequel to their 2020 project. Now the two have another new single, this one featuring Griselda’s Conway the Machine, whose gritty East Coast sound adds a nice touch to this song.

SCOUT LARUE WILLIS – “THE BEST WOMAN”

Singer/songwriter (and Nicolas Jaar collaborator) Scout LaRue Willis has announced her self-titled debut album, due out June 24. rage. It’s an anthemic celebration of the courage it takes to make the tough decisions in life and love, which, while for your highest good, can feel excruciating. It’s finally about getting away from something that’s both toxic and intoxicating. This song is an ode to female creativity, sexuality and freedom, to the idea that I can be all of that without hiding or holding back any part of myself.”

SIMULAKRA – “FOLLOW THE FLIES”

Delaware metal hardcore band Simulakra followed up “Fading Away” with the second single from their upcoming LP The infection spreads (due 05/24 via DAZE), and it’s another dose of pure, unfiltered rage.

SNOW ELLET – “19”

Snow Ellet announced a new EP, glory daydue out June 10 via Wax Bodega, and lead single “19” is a very catchy mix of sugary early 2000s pop punk and rickety modern bedroom pop.

CHARLES STEPNEY – “DADDY’S DIDDIES”

The late songwriter/producer Charles Stepney has worked with Earth Wind & Fire, Deniece Williams, Rotary Connection, Minnie Ripperton, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Terry Callier, and more, and has been sampled by Kanye West, Madlib, MF Doom, A Tribe Called Quest, The Fugees, and more, and International Anthem celebrates its legacy with Stepney’s summer, a series of events, outings, a documentary and much more until September. As part of that, they unearthed this home-recorded rarity.

OLD FARKA TOURE – “NGALA KAOURENE”

Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Touré has shared another single from his upcoming album Rootsand like the previous ones, it is hypnotic, seductive and full of beautiful melodies.

KATIE ALICE GREER – “DREAM THAT I TALK TO HORSES”

Former Priests singer Katie Alice Greer releases her first solo album, Barbarism, and the last single is “Dreamt I Talk to Horses”. “It was one of the last songs I finished on the record,” Katie says. “Originally it was 8 minutes, much slower, and had a lot more reverb and noise. When I finally let go and re-recorded, something totally different came out quite organically. I sent it to friends saying I thought it was finally me getting into straight pop territory, that it was “my Drake song”, and pretty much all of them told me that it was still too weird to look like Drake. I hope people hear something they can relate to. It’s about dealing with all the hard feelings that come with loving people, even, and maybe especially, when things aren’t going to work out and you have to go your own way.

RUBY GOON – “COLD WIND”

Led by Russian-born musician Ivan Solimani-Lezhnev, Ruby Goon has signed to Erol Alkan’s Phantasy Sound and has just released his first single. “Cold Wind” is largely psychedelic, floating like a single cloud against a clear blue sky.

SAY SUE ME – “NO REAL PLACE”

Say Sue Me’s new album The last thing left due out on Friday via Damnably, and ahead of its release, they shared another advanced single, the energetic “No Real Place.” “There have been a lot of breakups over the years,” says Sumi Choi of the group. “I spent a lot of time missing someone. And I usually walk…I gained courage as I walked, and now I think I can overcome the sadness and the fear of someone leaving.”

NINA NASTASIA – “THIS IS LOVE”

“Is this love? It feel so bad / Drawing blood until we see black”, sings Nina Nastasia on this new song from her first album in 12 years. “Somehow I felt comfortable living with trauma, going through a fight, and sitting in sadness,” she says of it. “Happiness came at times, but I had to gravitate towards misery, because I built a life around it. My definition of love became skewed. ‘This Is Love’ is a love that I I don’t want to repeat. I have no regrets. It was love, but love doesn’t have to be like that if you don’t want it.”

BRET MCKENZIE – “A LITTLE MUSIC”

Half of the funky and funny duo Flight of the Conchords, Brett McKenzie gets a series for his debut album, songs without jokes.

CRACK CLOUD – “PLEASE”

Second album by Vancouver collective Crack Cloud, Hard babycomes out in September and it’s the first single.

DAVID KNUDSON – “VARV”

Former Minus The Bear and Botch guitarist David Knudson’s debut solo album is out this Friday, and here are some more songs, which you can hear more about here.

DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE – “ROMAN CANDLES”

Death Cab for Cutie announced a new album, asphalt meadowsand shared the first single, which you can read more about here.

EARTH THEATER – “MITOSE”

Eartheater has produced their glitchy new single “Mitosis” with Sega Bodega.

DANGER MOUSE AND BLACK THOUGHTS – “NO GOLD TEETH”

Danger Mouse and Black Thought have finally announced their long teased collaborative album, titled Cheat Codesand you can read more about the first single “No Gold Teeth” here.

BEHEMOTH – “VO MY HERCULEAN EXILE”

Behemoth have announced their 12th studio album, Opvs Contra Natvramand shared the lead single, which comes with a chilling video directed by Zuzanna Plisz.
