Everyone should be mad at the Mar-a-Lago raid

The FBI raid on President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home should be disturbing to all Americans. An armed raid on the home of a former president and likely presidential candidate is unprecedented and implicates the FBI in presidential politics – again.

The heavy-handed tactics used by FBI agents against Trump’s senior associates are also troubling. There was a pre-dawn raid on the home of Trump political adviser Roger Stone, 69, with heavily armed officers, armored vehicles, helicopters and patrol boats. Former Trump administration aide Peter Navarro, 73, was arrested at an airport and put in handcuffs and leg irons.

The FBI’s brutal tactics against citizens are of recent origin, but its record of reckless incompetence dates back decades.

The bureau ignored advice from citizens before the Parkland school shooting in Florida in 2018. Agents did not verify information from Russian intelligence agencies before the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013. They spoiled the Branch Davidian stalemate in Waco in 1993 and the stalemate in Ruby. Ridge in 1992.

While some say only FBI leaders are corrupt, these weren’t bureau managers and deputy managers wielding long guns at Mar-a-Lago and Stone’s home, and we don’t have heard of no resignations from base FBI agents who refuse to be part of the corruption.

Loyalty, bravery and integrity? More like framing, bullying and bullying.

It’s time for the FBI to disappear.
