Walsh picked his five horses to watch this season – with an eye on the Cheltenham Festival

EACH FOR HIMSELF

Coach: Willie Mullins

Ruby says, “I picked him partly because I’m a Willie Mullins man, but I think he’s going to go find Tingle Creek in Sandown on December 4th and take on Shishkin, so he’ll do it for me.

“Those bonus points would be nice to earn early on.”

ENJOY IT

Coach: Willie Mullins

Ruby says, “He’s my novice hunter for the coming year.

“He was a brilliant winner of the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and, being one of the best novices in hurdles, he has every chance to be one of the best novice hunters this season.”

GOLDEN THREAD

Coach: Gordon Elliott

Ruby said: “Who knows which juveniles should show up, but he looked way above average on his hurdling debut at Down Royal in October and is already setting a high level.”

MINELLE INDO

Coach: Henry de Bromhead

Ruby said: “The Cheltenham Gold Cup winner has made a good start to the campaign at Down Royal and looks set to compete in all three major races starting at Christmas in his division – the King George, the Irish Gold Cup and the Gold Cup.

“The one to beat in the biggest races for me.”

KILCRUIT

Coach: Willie Mullins

Ruby said: “Unhappy not to have won the Bumper Champion at the Cheltenham Festival, but has made amends on his next start to Punchestown and looks destined for top honors in the novice hurdles division this season.”
