Support Russell’s Conviction for another win at Hexham

Back halfheartedly @ 6/1 in the 2:40 at Hexham

A real bonus to have Hexham on Monday, and we start with a previous Hexham winner who drifted 6/1 last night on the Sports betting without convictionand I don’t mind supporting vagabonds.

Trained by Lucinda Russell, the mare gained over 2m4f in the northeast in brutal terrain in early December and appeared to possess abundant stamina. That success came on a mark of 97, but she failed to cross the finish line on her next few starts.

One came in a much stronger rating at the 0-135 level at Newcastle, and that 0-100 seems considerably easier. She was also holding Kelso a little up front, but her jumps were solid and a return to the Hexham fences is a plus.

His win at Hexham earlier in the season received a positive section upgrade, and three horses bolstered form afterwards with wins. Rain is expected, and that will help, and his trainer Russell is second in the track standings this term with a number of winners. She also runs in red and black Ahoy Senor silks, which are almost as dashing as Peter Scu’s Tartan jumpsuit that aired on TV over the weekend. Scu is such a legend.

Bere can bounce back from Imperial Cup flop

Comeback Mystery Bere @ 3/1 in the 15:15 at Hexham

Race of the day in the northeast is the 0-130 hurdles and the Tom Symonds hurdler Mystery Bere has a good chance of getting back on track after a bad run at Sandown last time out.

It happened in the Imperial Cup in March, so it was quite a challenge, but he never got involved and was stopped. I wouldn’t say that on the floor as he holds winning form in testing, but he had a chance to recover from it with a month-long break.

He had previously run second to Cheltenham in a good handicap over the winter from a mark of 128 although he doesn’t seem totally enamored with the faster surface. He picked up strong and stayed well, and definitely worth trying to change his arm to 2m4f.

Previous efforts at Fontwell (where he has won twice) have indicated he has quite a few untapped staminaand with the easy side for Monday, it can justify its 3/1 price tag.
