Cash Back appears to be a better hurdler than he was a hunter and will be ridden by 7lb claimant Kieran Callaghan who had a winner at Clonmel last week. It wouldn’t surprise me if it took a bit of a step back on that two mile trip around that trail. It’s interesting that Rachael Blackmore is riding Irascible and is in Cork rather than Fairyhouse. Cash Back is my best bet this weekend.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

Speaking of Rachael Blackmore, she rollin’ Aione in this 2m 4f Beginners Chase. His form has steadily improved and he might be able to get over the fences.

It’s a decent sized field with 16 declared to run. Dinoblue was a disappointment at the Cheltenham Festival as she ran far too hard in the Mares’ Novices Hurdle on just her second start. The winner Love Envoi stands out here and deserves to be among the market leaders after a fight demonstration where she stayed very well to win.

Brandy Love will be ridden by Paul Townend but he will have to keep her straight at her obstacles as she jumped hard left when beaten here as the favourite. Of the others, Impervious might stand a chance, just like Braganca, which pleases me in every way. Night and Day looks like a fine mare and one to watch in the future.

Melon has plenty of clout to concede but should be too good for the opposition now that he’s dropping down to Year 3 class after winning a Year 2 at Gowran Park two starts back.

WANT QUICK RESULTS? NO PROBLEM!

Danny Mullins riding Mount Leinster as Paul Townend rides Galopin Des Champs in the next race. His last race was a good race and certainly has a chance in a fairly open contest.

The hallmark race is the Gold Cup Novice Chase where Field Scamp seeks to atone for one final fall from the fence at Cheltenham. I’m not kicking him for falling after the last one with the race won and it was just bad luck that he landed on his toe rather than the ball of his foot so he just buckled at the landing. Experience should help him overcome this type of error. Blue Sari needs heavy ground to show his best so Master McShee is most likely to hunt favorite Galopin Des Champs.

There’s no form to continue here, but Willie Mullins throws four darts at the board. Dr. Eggman is ridden by Pat Taaffe who claims 7lbs and is owned by Rich Ricci. He is doing well at home. Icare Desbois will have Jody Townend on board and I’m not surprised Patrick chose to ride Lecky Watson because he does things very well at home. He probably would have been my choice too. I don’t really know Loughglynn who may have come to training a bit later.
