Ruby Walsh:

Willie has the Grand Bornand and snow sky In this one. Grand Bornand literally broke the first fence at Leopardstown on St. Stephen’s Day finishing behind Ferny Hollow so we could put a line through that. As for Ciel De Neige, falling while traveling won’t be a problem for him. He attacks fences and loves to jump. He will be really hard to beat.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

Stones And Roses runs in this one with Paul Townend on board. He likes extreme distances so it might suit him. He is also very fond of loose soil, so any rain will help his case.

Your pace is guaranteed with Deploy Getaway In the race. It won’t drag. It’s a decent run and Largy Debut is solid. Au Fleuron and Slip Of The Tongue can also perform their day. I thought Deploy The Getaway was going to win at Gowran last year, but he bounced back at Down Royal last month. However, it might suit a rider who is behind the leading pack.

James Gate going well and going in the right direction. Worth keeping an eye on this one.

Frank Hickey:

Anything Goes is an interesting addition to the Cross Country game. He has a rating of 147 over the fences, but has been in form since the second half of last season. Enda Bolger has won it six times in the past nine years and he has four here. i can’t look beyond Shady Operator who is 2-2 on Banks and won this race pretty easily last year and won the Risk Of Thunder in November here even easier. Expect him to win here and I think he is a great player for Cheltenham.

the bubbler ran a cracker in the Porterstown when second to Smoking Gun on a mark of 124. He had been in fine form from early fall through November with two wins and two seconds in four starts. He is not exposed when he encounters an extreme endurance test. He only carried 10st7lbs and Eoin Walsh takes off another 5lbs.
