The 2022 SAG Awards winners give us our best sign yet of the Oscars results

The winners of the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards have been announced, giving us the best indication yet of who could take home the statuettes at this year’s Oscars.

West Side StoryAriana DeBose made history by becoming the first openly queer woman to win a SAG Award, as well as the first Afro-Latina to win an individual award – she won the Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role category. She plays Anita in the film, the sister-in-law of the protagonist Maria (Rachel Zegler).

Meanwhile, Troy Kotsur became the first deaf actor to win a SAG Award for his role in CODA, winning the gong for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role. He plays Ruby’s (Emilia Jones) father, Frank.

On the small screen, Squid Game won big in the TV categories. The Korean Netflix show took home the award for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a TV Series, along with nods for Lee Jung-jae and Jung Ho-yeon. Ted Lasso was the only other series to win awards in more than one category.

  • Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Drama Series: Jung Ho Yeon (Squid Game)
  • Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Television Movie or Limited Series: Kate Winslet (Easttown Mare)
  • Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a TV Movie or Limited Series: Michael Keaton (Dopesick)
  • Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series: Succession
