On Sunday evening (February 27), the 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards aired on TNT and TBS. “Together Again” was the theme of the show, and for the third year in a row, there was no host.

Nicholas Brown, Javier Bardemand Elle Fanning kicked off the evening with individual “I am an actor” stories. Hamilton Stars Lin-Manuel Miranda, David Diggsand Leslie Odom Jr. followed suit, but they all ended up talking to each other. “I think at a time like this, the star of the show should come first,” Diggs said, forcing the trio to talk to each other again, until the music blared and asked them to wrap up.

A little later, Odom Jr. delivered a more serious message to the Ukrainian people. “We hold a place in our hearts for Ukraine and send our thoughts, prayers and hopes for an imminent peace,” he said.

Ted Lasso, Squid Game and CODA were all the big winners of the evening.

Troy Kotsur made history as the first Deaf actor to win an individual SAG Award for Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for his work in CODA. In his acceptance speech, Kotsur thanked SAG, the producers, the cast, his wife and daughter, and Apple TV+ for “believing in us deaf actors and authentically portraying us as deaf actors.” The cast of CODA was also chosen for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
