Ormond Beach Art Guild Exhibition and Reception

When: 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Details: Local artists will exhibit their works at the Ormond Beach Art Guild Spring 2022 Exhibition, which runs April 4-28. The opening reception will include a light meal, wine and bottled water. Marian Devore, pianist and member of the Ormond Beach Art Guild will provide the music. Free and open to the public.

Swamp Rabbit Program

Where: Environmental Discovery Center, 601 Division Ave.

Details: Join EDC for a pre-K program for ages 3-5 on one of the rabbit species native to this region. Learn about their biology, behavior and diet, and take part in hands-on activities. Mandatory reservation. Call 386-615-7081.

Easter party and egg hunt

Where: Tomoka United Methodist Church, 1000 Old Tomoka Road

Details: Tomoka United Methodist Church will host this free event for children ages preschool through fifth grade. There will be a photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny, as well as snacks, games, an Easter story and more. The egg hunt is divided into three age groups with an additional area for visually impaired children, which includes “beeper eggs”. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

turtle day

When: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: Marine Science Center, 100 Lighthouse Drive

Details: Enjoy close encounters with endangered sea turtles and other marine life as the Marine Science Center’s animal rehabilitation staff explain how they care for the injured. Vendors will sell food and drink. Exhibitors from regional conservation organizations will provide information on projects throughout the region. There will also be crafts and live music. One or more sea turtles may be released onto the beach, depending on the turtles’ health status, weather and surf conditions. Free event.

Loop walk

When: 10 a.m. to noon

Where: Bulow Creek State Park, 3351 Old Dixie Highway

Details: The Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail Corridor Management Organization will host a guided hike on the trail at Bulow Creek State Park. Meet at the Fairchild Oak near the parking lot. The guide will be Dr. Don Spence, Plant Pathologist and Certified Master Arborist. The walk will take approximately two hours and may include uneven or wet ground. Bring water and insect repellent. Free. No registration required.

Growing up in Volusia and its cities: navigating the complexities of land use and conservation

When: 10:30 a.m. to noon

Where: Ormond Beach Regional Public Library, 30 S. Beach St.

Details: The League of Women Voters of Volusia County invites the public to join them for this event, featuring a panel of land use professionals from VCARD and an environmental expert from Barry University. They will explore the balance between the rights of a landowner and the needs and desires of the communities involved. RSVP by contacting Carla Christianson at [email protected]. Free Quilt Trunk Show

Spring Bird Walks in Central Park

Halifax Genealogical Society Monthly Meeting and Program

Ormond Beach Democratic Meeting

Details: The Ormond Beach Area Democratic Club will meet in person and on Zoom. Holy week drama

Details: Tomoka United Methodist Church will be presenting a live play titled “Have You Seen My Son?” by Jon McCauley Smith. The drama is about five helpless mothers interceding for their sons as the greatest event in history unfolds. This is produced by special arrangement with Christian Publishers. Seated fitness classes

Details: The library offers two programs for adults who prefer to exercise while seated. Select Mondays, staff will lead “Sit and Be Fit” classes, which focus on stretching and strengthening exercises. Select Tuesdays, Certified Yoga Instructor Carol Jones will offer a gentle chair yoga practice. The seats are limited. All fitness levels are welcome. Free and registrations are not required.
